Willi Richards
Willi began his career working in community, education and social-issue theatre as an actor and director. He holds a degree in drama, a post-graduate qualification in English and has completed specialist post-graduate study in vocal communication and classical text.
An interest in the actor's process led him to training actors and developing skills and crafts within both the conservatoire setting and in production. He has worked at the RSC in Stratford and London, the RNT Studio and for the British Council across the world. He has worked in dance/physical theatre with CanDoCO and DV8 and opera projects with ENO and the Royal Opera House.
In 1990, Willi began his work in developing core communication skills for people outside the theatre world. He has since worked within the private and public sector, with major banks, retailers, manufacturers and service providers and within international, national and local government sectors. Recently Willi worked for the United Nations, developing a training package on Human Rights for police officers in Sri Lanka.
Willi was a core member of staff at RADA from 1992-2002 and was the first Artistic Director of 'RADA in Business' from 1998–2002. Willi has directed at the Theatre Royal Plymouth, Bristol Old Vic and in the West End. He regularly directs drama for BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4. In 2007, he directed two theatre pieces for the British Council and a Shakespeare play for the BBC. He continues to teach for RADA on a part-time basis.
"A privilege to get coaching from such a talented and experienced professional."
